Job Description:

The Engineer (Mechanical or E&I) will be responsible for supervising and executing brownfield hook-up works, system pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities. The role ensures systems are installed, tested, energized, and handed over in a safe, timely, and compliant manner. Engineers will interface closely with construction, commissioning, QA/QC, HSE, vendors, and operations teams to ensure readiness and delivery of systems.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in system walkdowns (pre/post punch) and manage punch list clearance.
  • Develop and execute pre-commissioning/commissioning procedures and test plans.
  • Liaise with commissioning leads to ensure timely execution and handover.
  • Interface with vendors for SATs (Site Acceptance Tests), calibration, and start-up support.
  • Coordinate with operations for safe system energization (hot works, permits, isolation).
  • Supervise piping, static & rotating equipment hook-up, flange management, and torqueing.
  • Ensure lube oil flushing, air blowing, chemical cleaning, and hydro-testing as per procedures.
  • Oversee alignment, equipment preservation, leak tests, and vibration checks.
  • Coordinate installation and pre-commissioning of pumps, compressors, valves, etc.
  • Supervise termination, loop checking, cable routing, earthing, and gland/connections.
  • Conduct MEG tests, insulation resistance testing, continuity, and loop folder validation.
  • Support functional testing of instruments, DCS/PLC interfaces, F&G, and ESD systems.
  • Manage energization of LV/MV switchgear, MCCs, UPS, transformers, and lighting systems.

Must Have Skills:

  • E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
  • 10+yrs of experience in brownfield/offshore hook-up & offshore/onshore E&I systems, commissioning
  • Equipment testing, flushing, alignment, leak tests, pre-comms checklists/ Loop checking, cable meggering, functional testing, DCS I/O
  • P&IDs, isometrics, torque tools, flange management tools/ Loop folders, SmartPlant Instrumentation, ICSS/DCS
  • BOSIET/FOET, H2S, Permit-to-Work systems/ CompEx, BOSIET, Offshore Electrical Safety
  • Coordination, documentation, multi-discipline communication/ Attention to detail, procedural adherence, team leadership

Expected Outcome:

  • Mechanical and E&I systems installed, tested, and ready for commissioning
  • Mechanical completion and punch list cleared for commissioning transition
  • Successful and safe energization of electrical systems & rotating equipment
  • Handover of systems to client/operations on schedule with full documentation
  • Adherence to project specs, safety regulations, QA/QC standards
  • Effective engagement with vendors, construction, and commissioning teams
