Job Description:

The Structural & Mechanical T&I Engineer is responsible for supporting and executing engineering and site supervision activities related to transportation, lifting, load-out, launching, and offshore installation of jackets, decks (topsides), piles, risers, and other heavy offshore structures. The engineer ensures all structural and mechanical aspects comply with project specifications, safety standards, marine regulations, and execution plans.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate detailed engineering documents related to lifting, load-out, sea fastening, rigging, and installation methodology.
  • Interface with structural designers, marine warranty surveyors (MWS), and naval architects to finalize engineering calculations.
  • Support installation method statements and risk assessments (RAMS, HIRA).
  • Provide engineering support for barge transportation, lifting (crane or float-over), upending, and pile driving operations.
  • Review T&I drawings, rigging plans, grillage and sea-fastening designs, and installation sequences.
  • Monitor offshore campaigns during jacket launch, pile driving, or topside lift/float-over.
  • Act as an offshore field engineer or client representative during jacket and topside installation.
  • Coordinate with vessel teams, subcontractors, marine spreads (crane barges, tugs), and construction management.
  • Ensure real-time tracking of operations and document deviations or incidents.
  • Supervise jacket and topside load-out at fabrication yard with alignment and weighing.
  • Witness barge ballasting, skid-shoe placements, and tie-downs for transportation.
  • Validate rigging inspection and load test records.
  • Enforce structural integrity and safety of lifting/towing/launching operations.
  • Ensure all marine activities are in compliance with project HSE and QA/QC standards.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis if any anomalies occur during T&I.

Must Have Skill:

  • E. / B.Tech in Structural, Mechanical, Marine or Offshore Engineering
  • 12+yrs of experience in offshore T&I projects, including experience with jacket launch, pile installation, and topside lifting/float-over.
  • Understanding of API RP 2A, DNV-GL, AISC, ISO offshore codes
  • Familiarity with marine spread (crane barge, launch barge, tugs) operations
  • Load-out calculations, lift analysis, rigging design
  • Use of tools like SACS, Pro, Orcaflex, MOSES, or AutoPIPE
    Marine Ops Knowledge | Installation sequencing, float-over methods, ballasting, barge stability

Expected Outcome:

  • Incident-free installation of jackets and topsides in line with marine and lifting safety
  • Adherence to project specs, marine class requirements, and client/MWS approvals
  • Timely completion of T&I operations with minimum downtime or rework
  • Effective interface with marine, structural, and HSE teams across pre-installation to offshore phases
  • Complete and accurate post-operation documentation, installation logs, and red-line markups
