Individual lifestyles are responsible for Greenhouse Gas Emissions

In an interview with This Week India on World Earth Day, Baroruchi Mishra, Group CEO of NET Enterprise, emphasized the significant impact of individual lifestyles on greenhouse gas emissions. He highlighted that while governmental policies are essential, individual actions—such as reducing electricity and water consumption, minimizing waste, using public transport, recycling, installing rooftop solar panels, and adopting electric vehicles—are crucial in combating climate change.

Mishra also discussed the environmental benefits of dietary choices, noting that plant-based diets have a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to meat-based diets. He pointed out that in India, the per capita COâ‚‚ emission is approximately 2 tonnes annually, and planting around 100 trees per person each year could offset this amount over time.

Reflecting on the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, Mishra stressed the need for heightened public awareness and proactive measures to address climate change. He called for a shift in perception, urging individuals to recognize the urgency of the situation and take meaningful action to ensure a sustainable future.
