He has an established track record in shaping strategic direction and making high-stakes financial decisions alongside executive leadership teams, both as a board member and as a senior executive in complex national and international environments.
Baroruchi currently serves as the Partner and Group CEO of NET Enterprise Group, which comprises companies offering EPC, EPCM, PMC, front-end engineering (Concept Select and FEED), and advanced digitalization services (Industry 4.0 solutions). Prior to this, Baroruchi held a leadership role at Shell as Project Director for Growth and Transition Projects in India. He was instrumental in driving opportunities across second-generation ethanol, plastic circularity, and CO₂ sequestration. His efforts led to strategic MOUs with hydrogen electrolyser OEMs, ONGC for pore space validation (depleted reservoirs/saline aquifers), and partnerships for CCS hubs. He also played a pivotal role in positioning India as a strategic sourcing hub under Shell’s China+1 de-risking strategy.
Baroruchi began his Shell career in 2013 as Vice President of Engineering, overseeing engineering support for projects and assets across India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and China. He led the establishment of the Shell Technology Centre and R&D Labs in Bangalore, acting as both Business Opportunity Manager and in-country Project Head. He also served as a Board Member of Shell Global Solutions, Malaysia.
His international experience includes roles as General Manager of Shell’s LNG Programme Office (Netherlands) and GM of Project Performance Assurance and Benchmarking at Shell Projects & Technology. Before Shell, Baroruchi worked with BG Group as Technical Director for BG Asia Pacific (Bangkok) and as Director – Projects & Operations for BG Exploration & Production India (Mumbai).
Baroruchi’s energy career began with ONGC and later included stints at Enron and Cairn Energy. Outside of his corporate achievements, he is a published author of “Rhythm of Life – A Poetic Rendition of the Bhagavad Gita” and actively supports rainwater harvesting and sanitation projects in India. He serves on the Board of Living Peace Projects, a Dutch not-for-profit organization promoting sustainable water solutions in India.
Academically, Baroruchi holds a B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. He is a Chartered Manager, having earned his Business Administration credentials from the Chartered Management Institute, UK.
Notably, he was selected for India’s Civil Services in 1992 but chose to continue his career in the energy sector. In 2022, he was shortlisted for the position of Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC by the Public Enterprise Selection Board.
