Stage Gate Delivery

Stage-gate deliverables are delivered in a disciplined mannered ; they meet the clients assurance criteria.

NET has the capability to make suggestions to the clients to merge stage-gates to expedite their projects but with a clear understanding of the risks related to open switches ( this includes Non Technical Risks) from the previous stage-gates. Risk mitigants are agreed with the clients , their monetary value captured in the project cost and schedule estimates, and residual risks are brought to acceptable levels for the clients to make the final decision.

Feasibility

Feasibility ( FEL 1) – “Identify – Assess” Deliverables NET supports the clients to create a value case at the Identify and Assess phase of the project by supporting with the following deliverables at this stage: Carryout Feasibility Studies- This could be either technical or techno-commercial feasibility study.

Establish Project Premise Integrate process licensor- Preliminary PFDs, Plot Plan, Utility Summary, Emissions Summary, Prelim Sized Equip, and TIC Initiate and Complete Feedstock study and any study required to frame the value case for the Project- This includes Market Analysis where necessary.

Evaluation of site requirements and potential sites- Unless a brownfield at an existing site HSSE Philosophy- High Level Level 3 Cost and Schedule Estimates. Benchmarking of Cost and Schedule. Set Targets and Opportunity registers to be de-risked in the next phases of the Project Scope Optimization- Starting with minimal technical scopes of projects and building requirements as necessary Finalize Basis of Design (BoD) & key performance parameters per process block

PRE-FEED ( FEL 2)

“SELECT” Deliverables. Following Pre-FEED deliverables are typically prepared by NET:
Process Design Package with process licensor- PFDs/P&IDs, Plot Plan, Utility Summary, Emissions Summary, Sized Equip/Data Sheets, and TIC

HMB- Heat & Material Balance

  • Process Parameters/KPIs including operating envelops for each process block with recommended design margins. Establish Resourcing Requirements through an agreed Organogram with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Negotiations of Non-binding contracts for feedstock purchase, land lease, utilities, product off-take
  • HAZID/HAZOP Study

Final collation of Consents and Approvals Requirements- Application of applicable permits

  • New 3D or Gap Analysis on the existing 3D model for update in the FEED phase.
  • Project Economics at end of Pre-FEED
  • Level 2 Cost and Schedule Estimates.
  • Assurance Review with Independent Third Parties or with Project Assurance Functions within the Clients Organization.

Front-End Engineering Design

FEED ( FEL 3) – “DEFINE” Deliverables Following Define stage deliverables are prepared by NET at arrive at a sharp definition at FID: Final CP Strategy linked to the Project Execution Strategy. E+P+C Contractor Selection/Yard Selection (Module Fabrication). ( Help clients prepare forPre-Bid Meetings if necessary)

  • Yard selection/Installation and Transportation vessel selection/ Preliminary Mooring Analysis

  • Project Quality and Risk Mitigation Plan.

Creating of RFQ and or Bid Packages for all LLIs and for Equipment and Systems/Subsystem which have high lead times. Constructability Workshop and Constructability Study and incorporation of the findings of the in the 3D model. Digitalization Philosophy- Evaluation of need for Digital Twins and preparation of Digital Twins. Communication Plan , Stakeholder Management Plan , Stakeholder Engagement Plan

  • Inventory Management Philosophy.
  • Project Execution Strategy.

Preparation of the Bid Package for selection of Construction Contractor ( could also be a FEL2 Activity) Estimate of Total Installed Cost (+/-10%) and a Probabilistic Schedule based on a Monte Carlo Schedule Risk Analysis. The Schedule is Primavera Resource Loaded Schedule. The project team endeavours to get at least 50% of the drawings to AFC (Approved for Construction Stage) from the standard deliverable of IFD drawings from the FEED phase. This will shorten the need Detail Engineering efforts and ensure a quicker start of construction.

BIOFUELS – CBG/BIOLNG

  • (BIO BASED ENERGY) sector in India: The Sustainable Alternative towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) scheme aims to achieve 15 MT of CBG production from 5000 plants across India
  • Analysis estimates that the biogas potential ranges from 310 to 655 billion m3/year in the year 2040 depending upon availability of different resources- Over 15000 plants could be built.
  • PSU are building CBG plants at a fast pace.
  • Opportunity for NET – Net is actively bidding for Engineering and PMC scopes for CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) Facilities
  • NET has executed an MOU with Indian BioGas Association for cooperation on CBG/ BioLNG project.
  • NET has been shortlisted by Shell to prepare a BDEP for BioLNG Facilities

Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage

  • NET Enterprise is executing this project as an EPC for a first of its kind Carbon Capture Unit for HPCL Refinery in Vizag, India. It is a Demo cum Commercial facility. CO2 Capture is from the Hydrogen Generation Unit.
  • The unit will also be equipped with amine regeneration and CO2 compression, liquefaction & bottling facility besides the Balance of Plants.
  • The project involves construction of a plant using a new technology for gas-liquid absorption process.
  • The technology is based on Process Intensification of separation processes and utilizes a Rotating Packed Bed (RPB) for improving the mass transfer efficiency which results in significant size reduction of equipment (HP-HiGAS Technology developed by HPCL R&D).
  • The major benefits of the technology are size reduction, lower capital cost and improved safety while achieving the same capacity and separation.

Plastic Circularity

  • Pyrolysis is a process of thermal degradation of a material in the absence of oxygen.
  • The plastic is pyrolyzed at 370ºC-420ºC.
  • Process generates pyrolysis gases, pyrolysis oil and char.Pyrolysisgases are condensed to liquids, non condensable gases are utilized in the process itself for heat generation.
  • Pyrolysis liquid can be separated using fractional distillation to produce the liquid fuel products or recycled back into petrochemical naphtha/liquid crackers to make monomers for plastics production.
  • Purified pyro oil can be blended with Bitumen; it increases strength.
  • Currently waste plastic pyrolysis units operate at
  • wide range of capacity –1 TPD of plastic waste feed (decentralized model) to 100 TPD world-wide. (Centralized model) depending on feedstock availability.
  • NET is Partnering with Technology Providers to deliver Projects which create higher scale and integration with petrochemicals complex . Depending upon the feedstock it can generate 25-30% IRR.
  • MOU has been signed with the Government of Uttarakhand for setting up a Plastic Circularity facility in the state.
  • NET is undertaking construction of Commercial Scale Pyrolysis Oil purification plant at Khapoli in New Mumbai in EPC mode.

Suitable feedstock for pyrolysis –polyethylene, polypropylene–used in thin, flexible packaging, plastic items which are hard to mechanically recycle.
